What we do
what we do
YWCA Wolverhampton at Bilston
At YWCA Wolverhampton at Bilston one of our most important activities are ‘drop-in’ sessions where girls can talk one-to-one and in confidence with a project worker.
We welcome all girls and young women.
We offer :
- After school and evening sessions which are especially popular. We encourage girls to come along and take part in workshops, get information and advice, make new friends and try new things.
- Sexual health sessions run in conjunction with the local primary care trust (PCT).
- Accredited education programmes in an informal and relaxed environment.
- Information and support about education, training, skills and jobs;
We work with refugees and asylum seekers to help them settle in to their new life in the UK and come to terms with what has happened to bring them here. We offer practical advice, information and English as a second language classes.
We have fun and build confidence using a wide range of activities, including working together on projects and arts and crafts, volunteering and campaigning.
Young women who attend YWCA Wolverhampton at Bilston and Warstones were recently involved in commissioning a peer education programme and website offering young people advice about topics such as teen pregnancy and substance abuse.
