What we do
what we do
YWCA Doncaster
YWCA Doncaster is a vibrant women’s centre in the heart of Doncaster. We offer a huge range of activities, workshops, learning sessions, childcare, and a café.
We run programmes for young women who may have dropped out of school or who have low aspirations; have been bullied or abused; are isolated or unemployed; young mums and mums-to-be; women with learning disabilities and those who may be using alcohol or drugs.
We offer:
- Accredited informal education programmes. In a relaxed atmosphere girls and young women learn literacy, numeracy, IT, money management, English as a second language (ESOL), and useful life skills.
- ‘Drop-in’ sessions and counselling where girls can talk one-to-one and in confidence with a project worker.
- Group sessions where women learn about parenting, healthy eating, diet and exercise, safe sex and sexual health, alcohol and drugs.
- Information and support about education, training, skills and jobs.
- Anger management and assertiveness training.
We have fun and build confidence using a wide range of activities, including working together on creative projects, dance, filmmaking and arts and crafts.
Our Together women programme has won three prestigious awards including the National Criminal Justice award for outstanding contribution to working with offenders.
